Mahanavami / Vijayadasami Pooja

On Maha Navami Goddess Durga is worshipped as Mahisasuramardini. It is believed that on Maha Navami day Durga killed the demon Mahishasura.

On this day Durga is blessed in the form of Saraswathi, who is considered as the Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. In South India along with the Goddess instruments like machinery, musical instruments, books, automobiles and different kinds of other instruments are our worship.  The day is considered very importantfor or stazrting a new work.

It is also believed that worship done on this day is equal to the worship done on all the other 9 days of Navarathri.

Vijayadashami is celebrated as victory of Lord Rama over Demon Ravana and also triumph of Goddess Durga over the buffalo Demon Mahishasura.
